Integrated, interoperable, smart, and user-centred building automation and control system for better energy performance of non-residential historic buildings coupling physics & data-based approaches

The goal of SMARTeeSTORY is to create a smart integrated building automation and control system for monitoring and optimizing historic non-residential buildings energy performance according to an innovative multi-domain approach (integrating the 9 domains proposed by SRI methodology), incorporating specific historic building requirements as well as human requirements and envisaging real-time and active user engagement.
MARTeeSTORY system automatically detects the building users’ archetypes (via DRL algorithms) therefore informing the optimization and control services on their specific preferences (SMARTeeSTORY database of users’ archetypes and preferences in smart buildings).
Interoperable and cybersecure-by-design software and hardware solutions fully enable the three functionalities required for a building to become “smart”:
·                  Optimization of operation of technical building systems
·                  Adaption to the external environment
·                  Changing conditions in relation to demands from building

Topic

Impact

More innovative, affordable, user-friendly and accessible products and systems to continuously monitor and improve the energy performance of buildings.
Increased building energy performance through the optimization and integration of different technologies, including renewable energy and storage, and services.
Easier and more systematic use of smart products and services to achieve savings where energy renovation is not an option.
Higher replicability to increase number of buildings with smart building devices and digital infrastructure resulting in a higher smart readiness rating.
